In a prime Downtown Ft. Lauderdale location two miles from the beach, this 1930s Old Florida beauty has oil paintings in its lobby, "elegantly decorated halls" and a "courteous and helpful" staff; rooms in the original section can be "tiny" and "outdated", with vistas of nothing better than a garage, but those in the tower addition, built in 2002 and more expensive, are fresher and have larger bathrooms (and, in some, "fantastic balcony views of the Atlantic"); budget $20 a day if you want to park on-site.

It's nostalgic. It's friendly. It's pretty.

The bar staff are extremely rude. This is the 2nd time this year for bad treatment in the bar.

We love the hotel. 2nd time we've stayed here. Would stay again, but would find a different bar to go to. We love sitting along the street having a cocktail, but the bar staff is completely inattentive and rude. They make you feel like they don't want you there. ...read more

drive up entrance not obvious; no wifi in my room

I STAYED IN THE OLDER SECTION...very nostalgic...but also not updated with wifi...and newer TV's...otherwise...place is very nice.

Location and staff were top notch!

Amazing value for the price I got on priceline. Location was near shopping, dining, and close enough to the beach! Best hotel I've ever stayed at! I loved their policy of being able to check in early if needed and checking out late if needed. Awesome awesome staff! ...read more
